After an assessment, your Physiotherapist will tailor exercise programs for you, to address your injuries, health and movement goals and any medical conditions.   Therapy Max’s exercise rehab uses Pilates principles with regressed exercise and other strength and conditioning principles to individualise your recovery and performance.

Physiotherapy prescribes graduated exercise to regain strength & capacity. Weakness can occur even when an injury has “healed”, resulting in incomplete recovery, leading to ongoing or re-occurring pain.  Weakness can occur due to an injury, fear avoidance and muscle inhibition related to swelling and instability.  A Physio’s role is to identify weakness, whether in the smaller postural and/or stabilising muscles, or the larger muscle groups and restore movement mechanics, to achieving goals.

Some people with painful, chronic or complex injuries may benefit from combining exercise approaches.  Often beginning with hydrotherapy and progressing to another such as pilates, home or gym programs.

Pilates informed exercise prescription requires significant post graduate training.  Therapy Max Physios are trained in both Polestar Pilates and APPI and undertake ongoing education in this field, which enable compressive choice of progressed & regressed rehabilitation exercise to our clients.

Strength & Conditioning:

Gym Based strengthening programs assist to develop a higher level of strength and fitness, which enables return to work, sport & daily activities.  These sessions are usually based in the Cook + Phillip‘s comprehensive & friendly gym.   Your therapist provides strict supervision to ensure you learn the correct exercises and avoid further injury.  Gym entry is covered in treatment costs.

When proficient, clients are encouraged to continue independently, to help them improve faster, and be reviewed when upgrades are required.

Physiotherapy prescribes graduated exercise to regain strength and capacity. Weakness can occur even when an injury has “healed”, resulting in incomplete recovery that causes ongoing or re-occurring pain. Weakness may also result from injury, fear avoidance, and muscle inhibition related to swelling and instability. As physios, our job is to identify weakness in the smaller postural and stabilising muscles or the larger muscle groups. This knowledge allows us to restore movement mechanics so you can achieve your goals.

Home Exercise Programs:

Most clients requiring rehabilitation or assistance with injuries are prescribed home exercises.  Your physiotherapist can provide home exercise sheets for personalised programs. We

We do acknowledge the research has shown that adherence to independent home exercises in rehabilitation is a significant problem, with compliance reported to be as low as 30%. Therefore, they are not a suitable long term option to support some clients reaching her goals. Those people should look at our 1-1 exercise sessions or class options.
